Tater™ vs Other Brands
There's a reason Pros are switching to swing Tater™
Most wood bats are made for retail shelves — lower-grade lumber, bulk machining, inconsistent pop. The Tater™ Wood Bat is hand-split, hand-finished, and bone-rubbed to MLB standards.
Higher density wood lasts longer and provides better "pop" off the barrel.
Ink dot tested to prove our bats meet professional standards.
Hand-split wood follows the natural grain, making bats stronger, more durable, and less likely to break.
Bone rubbing compresses the wood fibers, making the bat harder, improving durability, and increasing ball exit speeds.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a fungo bat and a regular wood bat?
A fungo bat is a coaching tool, not a game bat. The Tater® IF1 has a narrower 2.25" barrel and a thinner 31/32" handle, which lets coaches hit hundreds of ground balls per session without arm fatigue. Regular wood bats are built for in-game swings, weigh more, and aren't designed for the repetitive contact a coach makes during infield practice.
Is the Tater-IF1 Fungo a good gift for a coach?
Yes. The IF1 is one of the most-ordered coach gifts in Tater Baseball®'s lineup. A custom-engraved IF1 — typically with the coach's name, program, and year — is a season-end keepsake that sits on a desk or office wall long after the season ends. Email contact@taterbaseball.com for team-gift orders and engraving options.
Can the IF1 be used for outfield fly balls, or is it infield-only?
The IF1 is optimized for infield work — the narrower barrel and mid-barrel thickness give coaches the punch needed for crisp ground balls. It can hit fly balls if needed, but a wider-barrel fungo (built for lifting balls into the air) is generally a better fit for outfield-focused practices.
