The inside-out swing trainer
The Tater® ML19 is a short bat trainer for two-handed drills. It's built to keep hitters inside the baseball. The shortened length develops the compact, powerful swing mechanics that translate directly to the plate.
Stay Inside
Shortened length forces hitters to stay inside the ball — the foundational fix for bat path and contact quality.
True Weight Feel
Weight matches length — 26" at 26 oz, 28" at 28 oz. Club-like feel that mirrors a real game bat, just shorter.
Every Level
Younger players learn barrel control. Advanced hitters drive the bottom hand through the zone. Works on tee, soft toss, and live BP.
🎯
A pro player favorite. Available in 26" and 28" with a semi-flared handle, small knob, and 15/16" diameter handle — built for high-rep work on the tee, in soft toss, and live BP.

The Tater® ML19 short bat trainer

The Tater® ML19 is a short bat ideal for two-handed drills, tee work, soft toss, and live pitching. It features a club-like feel that closely resembles a standard game bat — just shortened. That makes it a natural complement to any hitter's training toolkit.

The ML19's weight matches its length — 26" at 26 oz and 28" at 28 oz. That balance builds the bat speed and body awareness behind a powerful, compact swing. More experienced players use this two-handed training bat to drive the bottom hand through the zone. Younger players use it to develop barrel control and learn to square the ball up.

Why coaches and hitting instructors use the ML19

The shortened length is the whole point. It forces hitters to stay inside the baseball. That's the foundational fix for the most common swing flaw in amateur baseball. Hitting coaches use the ML19 as a tee work tool. They also use it for soft toss and as a between-rounds resetter during live BP. As a weighted training bat with length-matched weight, the ML19 builds the right muscle memory through high-volume reps. Players keep one in the bag for warm-ups and pre-game work.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I get the ML19 in 26" or 28"?
It depends on the hitter's size and skill level. The 26" is better for younger players (roughly 8–12 year olds) and shorter hitters who want maximum bat control. The 28" is better for older players (high school and above) who want training reps that feel closer to a regulation bat. Both lengths use the same weight-matches-length philosophy — 26" at 26 oz, 28" at 28 oz.
What drills is the ML19 best for?
The ML19 is built for inside-out drills, two-handed swing development, barrel control work, and high-volume tee or soft toss reps. The shortened length forces hitters to stay inside the baseball — fixing the most common amateur swing flaw. Many hitting instructors also use it as a between-rounds resetter during live BP.

..

Thank you great bat

Muy bueno

Great bat for teaching posture and staying over the plat for hitting low and away pitches using the tee

Works great! Very durable, and great for all age levels.

Great quality! Extremely happy with this purchase. I would purchase this product again. I encourage anyone that is on the fence to make the purchase. This review is coming from a junior college coach. Thanks Tater keep on keeping on.

I started coaching Little League softball teams ten or so years ago and try to find routines and/or tools that help players implement technique being taught. Hitting the outside pitch, in particular the low and outside pitch, requires a proper hinge in order to make solid contact. I can say “hinge” 1,000x and the verbal cue may or may not work. Incorporating the two-hand short bat trainer into our soft toss routine gets the hitter into a better position to make solid contact without verbal cues or demonstration.

Great training bat! The best quality training bats in the game!

Great bat, Great quality. What a fantastic tool for my son. Thanks for making a great product

My son has used Tater for years. Love the ability to customize wood bat models. Quick turnaround and excellent customer service. He enjoyed meeting you guys at Metro Scout Day this year. Tater is his go to wood bat!!!!

My son loves it. Solid bat that has pop. Great training bat!

As a youth baseball coach, I find this tool to be very helpful.

Solid bat with big barrel.

Baseball Coach Husband is happy with it, it’s to heavy for our 11 yr old

This thing is solid, light and easy to swing

Big fan, really helped develop my kids swing by forcing the torso to commit to the swing.

Muy buen material y se siente el contacto correcto con la bola al hacer ejercicios de práctica

Feels like a real game bat

I use this for front toss before every game to stay short to the ball

Bought the bat to help my sons work on "staying on the ball" and creating angles to attack pitches in all locations. The bat quality is excellent and should serve my boys well for years to come.

Excellent product Perfect tool for my 12 year old to work on one handed drills and not pulling off the ball with two hands.

Short bat review Extremely happy with our short bat trainers. High caliber wood and a beautiful finish and design. Look, feel and sound as game-like as can be
