We purchased another brand of pitching machine balls and had to return them. These are just what we needed!

“I asked my 12U fastpitch team if I should buy more Tater balls or get dimple balls. It was unanimous. We're never using dimple balls again.”
Richard D. · 12U fastpitch coach
“We use them in our JUGS machine, and they do everything a real softball does except damage our machine.”

“Same weight as a regulation softball. Great to use in practice when the field is wet. Just wipe it and it's good to go again.”

Most foam softballs are too light. They float, rise off the machine wheels and fly nothing like a game ball, so hitters end up timing a pitch they'll never see in a game. The Tater Foam Softball weighs 6.5 oz, inside the 6.25–7.0 oz regulation range, so pitches come in with real speed and a real flight path. You get game-like reps without the sting of a leather ball.

I have used other foam balls that are too light and create unrealistic spin and movement. Other balls also do not provide the same feedback off the bat as Tater foam balls do. Because the weight is equivalent to a regular baseball, hitters can feel squared-up contact much more effectively.
Being able to use training bats and wood bats without the possibility of breaking the bat creates a much more competitive training atmosphere. I highly recommend these balls to anyone who trains high-level players, and to coaches with kids at the youth level, to take the worry out of high-velocity machine practice.
Tater® vs. everyone else
Most pitching machine softballs either feel too light, fly weird, or beat up hands over time. The Tater® Foam Softball is built for game-speed reps with true flight, real feel, and a sting-free swing — rep after rep.

When you train at game speed, the ball matters. The Tater® Foam Softball is built to the same exacting standard as our wood bats — regulation weight, true flight, and zero sting.

Our high density foam balls are universal and work well with all types of pitching machines.
