Slight End-Load Wood Bats

The middle-of-the-order lineup
Custom Slight End-Load Wood Bats — Built for Gap-to-Power Hitters

Tater custom slight end-load wood bats push a touch of weight toward the barrel without giving up the swing speed of a balanced profile. You feel the barrel through the zone, get a little extra force at contact, and still stay quick enough to handle velocity. This is the family 3, 4, and 5 hitters and gap-to-power hitters gravitate toward. True contact hitters are usually better served by a balanced profile; pure power hitters by a fully end-loaded one.

Four slight end-load wood bats cover every persona. The XL5 pairs the elongated AP5 barrel with a medium handle for the standard power play. The XZ puts that XL5 barrel on a thin X12 handle for middle-of-the-order hitters who want speed and mass in one bat. The X6 brings an extra-long barrel on the 141 turn for versatility across hitting styles. The U238 pairs the XL5 barrel with a hamate-protecting U-knob for high-volume hitters. Tater custom slight end-load wood bats are cut one at a time from hand-selected maple or birch billet. They're turned at low speed and hand-finished in our Cheshire, Connecticut shop. Family-owned since 2015, 500–1,000 bats a week, from the shop that ships to MLB.

Custom Slight End-Load Wood Bats — Built for Gap-to-Power Hitters

Slight end-load wood bats push a touch of weight toward the barrel without giving up the swing speed of a balanced profile. You feel the barrel through the zone and get a little extra force at contact, but the bat stays quick enough to handle velocity. This is the family middle-of-the-order hitters live in.

Tater's slight end-load lineup:

  • XL5 Pro — AP5 silhouette, elongated barrel, medium handle, swung by Yan Gomes
  • XZ Pro — X12 thin handle on the XL5 barrel, the middle-of-the-order hybrid
  • X6 Pro — extra-long barrel on the 141 turn, versatile across hitting styles
  • U238 Pro — XL5 barrel with a hamate-protecting U-knob for high-volume hitters

Not sure which way to lean? Contact and gap hitters usually start with a balanced model. Pure power hitters who want maximum barrel mass go to the end-loaded lineup.

Standard custom build time: 2–3 weeks. Pro-grade maple or birch, hand-finished in Cheshire, Connecticut. Need it sooner? See stock bats.
