Tater Wood Training Bats — Pro-Grade Drill Bats

Tater wood training bats are built for the drills coaches actually run — one hand training bat reps, fungo bats for coach feeds, heavy training bat work for swing strength, and short-bat tee work for sweet-spot training. Hand-selected maple or birch billet, ink-dot certified and hand-finished to the same standard as our MLB player bats.

Every baseball training bat in this collection comes from the same Cheshire, Connecticut shop floor that produces our pro-grade game bats. Family-owned since 2015, 500–1,000 bats a week. Whether your hitter needs a swing training bat for isolation drills, a fungo bat for coach feeds, or a heavy training bat to build swing strength, the Tater wood training bats lineup is built to the same pro standard as the bats we cut for hitters in MLB, MiLB, and Division I college play.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of wood training bats does Tater Baseball make?
Our training bat line includes one-handed trainers (for top-hand and bottom-hand isolation drills), fungo bats (for coaches feeding ground balls and fly balls), overload/underload bat sets (for strength and bat-speed training), G-Force handle-loaded trainers, and mini-bats for tee work and sweet-spot training. Every training bat uses the same pro-grade wood as our game bats.
Which training bat is right for my swing development goal?
If you're isolating top-hand vs bottom-hand mechanics, use a one-handed trainer. If you're building bat speed, use an underload (lighter) bat in your warm-up routine. If you're building swing strength, use an overload (heavier) bat in controlled reps — not a full session. If you're working on sweet-spot consistency, use a mini-bat for tee work. Fungo bats are coach tools for feeding clean rounds.
Are training bats game-legal?
No — training bats are practice tools, not game bats. Their dimensions, weights, and intended use are outside regulation specs (lighter, heavier, shorter, or single-handed). Use them in cages, in the bullpen, in coach-fed drills, and in solo work. For game play, use the appropriate Tater stock or custom wood bat sized for your league.

Wood Training Bats — Tools for the Complete Hitter

Tater wood training bats are coaching tools designed to fix specific swing flaws — barrel awareness, hand position, bat path, swing speed, and strength. Every training bat in this collection was developed in the same shop that builds MLB game bats. Same wood, same craftsmanship — engineered to teach.
