At 5 oz, it's a true 5 oz foam baseball that matches the weight of a real game ball, so the flight path your hitters see out of the machine is the flight path they'll see in a real at-bat. What makes Tater® foam pitching machine baseballs different
Most foam baseballs on the market are too light. They rise unnaturally out of the machine. They train your hitter's eyes to expect a ball that doesn't exist in a real game. Our foam baseballs for pitching machines were built differently:

Why do most other foam pitching machine baseballs rise out of the machine?
They're too light. Most foam pitching machine baseballs weigh 3.6 oz or less — significantly under the 5 oz weight of a regulation baseball. Lighter foam balls catch more lift off the pitching machine's wheels and rise unnaturally as they approach the plate. Great balls feel like real balls players love using them
My daughter plays Little League AAA with the boys… she actually developed a bone bruise in her hand from so many hours in the cage. So we got her these Tater balls that are the same size and weight as a regular baseballs but just less impact on her hands. Then I started using them with my whole team and everybody loves them. We use a Hack Attack Jr and it works perfect… much better than using leather balls in the hack attack.

These balls fly really true at high velocities. Our hitters have given great feedback on hitting these and the similarity to regular machine hardballs, but appreciate not getting their hands rung up on mishits.

These balls are great machine balls. I have used them so far for skill work stations (drag/push bunts) as well as blocking and receiving for catchers out on the field. They are very firm foam and go through the hack attack without any issue at all.
The balls fly much more consistent and have no sting which makes practice more enjoyable.
The Tater balls are perfect. I cranked the machine up to 95–100 mph, and they flew with more precision than standard baseballs or even dimple balls. The consistency is incredible—it lets me work the edges of the strike zone with full confidence, knowing the balls won’t stray and risk hitting my two sons while they’re hitting. Exactly what I needed for safe, high-level training.
I replaced regular baseballs with these Tater Balls and the results are great. Less sting on the hitters hands and the balls last longer. I was going through way too many baseballs with our Hack Attack machine and that was getting expensive. This seems to have fixed our problem!
Great ball flight
I’ve scowled through the foam baseball scene for about two years. Trying just about every brand on internet. Tater foam balls take the crown. They are the hardest most dense foam I’ve found. And they are the same weight as a baseball. Which leads to more consistency. Most others are lighter, so spin can be less efficient. I can’t wait to get my hands on their foam balls wrapped in leather! TATER all the way!! #TeamTater
