10+ years. Same process. No shortcuts. Tater custom bats are held to the same standard as our MLB player bats — ink dot certified, bone-rubbed, and backed by a 30-day warranty.
Mass where it matters most
The Torpedo is a thin handle, medium barrel, balanced feel — with a signature barrel shape that concentrates mass directly into the sweet spot, giving hitters more forgiveness and explosive pop without the drag of a traditional end-load.
Sweet Spot Barrel
Increased diameter and mass at the natural impact zone — more surface area, more forgiveness, and more pop on barrels that aren't perfectly centered.
Balanced Swing Weight
Weight shifted slightly toward the hands — the bat moves through the zone fast and controlled, not heavy and lumbering like a traditional power bat.
Pro-Grade Wood
Maple only — ink dot certified, hand-split, and bone-rubbed to the same standard as our MLB player bats.
Best swung at Drop 2. The Torpedo's lighter density means a Drop 3 increases break risk — swing it at the recommended weight and this bat rakes.

Tater Torpedo — The Sweet Spot Bat

The Torpedo works differently from every other bat in the lineup. Instead of distributing mass along the barrel, it concentrates weight directly into the hitter's natural impact zone — creating a larger, more forgiving sweet spot that produces explosive pop even on balls that aren't perfectly centered. The weight sits closer to the hands than a traditional end-load, so the bat stays quick and controlled through the zone.

It's built for hitters who have a clean, disciplined swing and want to add pop without adding drag. Outside pitches are harder to square up and Drop 3 increases break risk — swing it at Drop 2 and stay through the ball, and this bat does serious damage.

F.A.Q.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What size bat should I order?

Length: Any length from 30''-34''

Weight: Any weight from -3 to +2

Drop weight is the difference between bat length and weight. To determine a
bat’s weight in ounces, take the drop weight number and subtract/add it from the bat length. For example, a -3 drop weight means that a 34" bat
weighs 31 ounces (34 -3 = 31).

What types of wood are Tater bats made from?

Tater wood bats are made from top-grade maple and birch. Each type of wood offers unique benefits in terms of hardness, flexibility, and performance.

Maple has been dominating the batters box for the last 20+ years. Maple is the most used wood species in the pros. It is the most dense of the three wood bats and strongest all around.

However, since maple doesn't have much give or flex - more energy is transferred upon impact at the plate.

The downside to using maple is that the "sweet spot" is smaller than other woods and it is not as forgiving as other wood species on a miss hit.

Since there is little to no flex hitters who drive ball off end of the bat or hitters who don't like to crowd the plate may want to look towards Birch or Ash as a better option.

Birch is known to be the best of both worlds when compared to maple and ash. It has been becoming increasingly popular among players of all age groups.

It has similar density properties as maple yet has more flex and is more forgiving on miss hits.

This is especially a great option for new players to wood who do not want to pass up durability for performance and also suitable for players who are playing up a division
or age.

outlined below
.

Do not hit Cage-Style Dimpled Baseballs

Do not store bat in a car, garage, or areas exposed to heat or extreme conditions, as this can cause the wood to expand, contract, or crack.

Keep the bat away from excessive moisture, which can cause the wood to swell or warp.

Do not modify or sand the handle of the bat.

Do not strike the ball where the Tater logo shows – ball markings on logo will void warranty.

Failure to adhere to the Hitting Guidelines will automatically void your replacement guarantee.

why are bats cupped at the end?

An integral part of the bat, a quality cup is essential. Our handcrafted cupping allows for cups of different depths, altering the weight and feel of the bat.

Our process allows the bat to be more durable and exponentially decrease the risk of chips and cracks.
