Build Your Custom Wood Bat — Where to Start
Tater Baseball builds custom wood bats by hand from MLB-grade billets at our Cheshire, Connecticut shop. Every custom bat we ship is the same quality as the bats we ship to pro hitters. The decisions you'll make in the builder are the same decisions pro hitters make for their gamers.
Pick your turn model first.
Turn models fall into four families:
- Balanced contact — 271, X12, X4, X24, J21 — quick through the zone, easy to control, built for contact and gap hitters. See the balanced lineup.
- Slight end-load — XL5, XZ, X6, U238 — a touch of barrel weight without losing swing speed, built for gap-to-power and 3-4-5 hitters. See the slight end-load lineup.
- End-loaded power — I13, 243, CB15 — maximum barrel mass for hitters who drive the ball. See the end-loaded lineup.
- Specialty — J21 knobless (hamate-safe), U238 U-knob, X12CB counterbalance, Torpedo (sweet-spot barrel)
Then pick wood, length, and finish.
Maple is the standard pro choice — denser, harder hitting surface. Birch is slightly more forgiving with a touch more flex. Both ink-dot certified. Standard custom builds ship in 2–3 weeks. Need a bat sooner? See our stock wood bats — same quality, ready to ship in days.
Family-owned. Supplied by MLB. Founded 2015 in Connecticut. Same hand-finished bats trusted by Major League hitters, college programs, and serious amateurs.
